Death Note is a highly popular Japanese Manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. Death Note revolves around the main character Light Yamgami. Light is Japan's Top High School student who has led a boring and uneventful life.

That of course changes once Light finds a mysterious notebook entitled, "Death Note". In the beginning Light is of course skeptical, however once he learns that the Death Note is a tool used by the Shinigami's (Death Gods) which has the power to kill anyone who's name is written on its pages, Light decides to use the Death Note to "Cleanse" the world of evil.

Eventually because of the unexplainable deaths of reported criminals was noted, Light becomes hunted by the Japanese Police force and a mysterious detective known only as "L".

"L" quickly learns that the muderer, whom the public has dubbed "Kira", is located in Japan, and that he can kill by knowing someones face and name. Light realizes that "L" is just as clever, if not more intellegent them himself and begins a "cat and mouse" chase with "L" to see who will be the first to have their identity exposed.

ive been following the manga since it first came out, and i loved it since then, the anime adds sop much more to it, and the producers did a really great job of putting it together. Cant wait for the series to start flourishing

its good but i liked L better in the manga he looked better
the only thing is that now that ive finshed the manga the anime is eh
but the animation is very high qual its a good watch

oh my god, death note episode 7, i have never seen such a suspenseful episode where 2 people just talk and walk for the whole episode.

Yeah, it's starting to get that way huh.

Let's just hope it stays away from that whole "talking" genera, cause that's definitely not where this series belongs.

actually, i think it's pretty good like that. i wasn't being sarcastic in my last post if you thought i was :P its pretty unique to see such an interesting anime with little action. i mean, i would want more action as well, but it's definitely not boring the way it is right now, i.e. ep7. however if it continues like this then i agree, it would lose its originality and the continuous talking would make it uninteresting.

It's compelling enough, but my god.
It needs more demon action.
It does present a very quagmiring story line that I don't blame anyone for enjoying, but it sure as heck isn't for me.

i love how little action there is but with the suspense that it still creates, im more of a logical guy, so hearing about Light and the way he reads though ways to kill people and puts pieces of the puzzle in his crimes are amazing to me, i love where this anime is going and i hop it sticks true to the manga well enough

But when are the Japanese live action movies ever coming out on American DVD? :(

I didn't like the live action movie all that much, everything felt out of place, and for some reason it felt like one of those B rated horror films to me, so I hope to god that they don't. . .unless of course it spread word of it, and interest then why the fuck not? But I love the manga/anime. ^_^

I'm a huge fan of Death Note, also I am at Vol. 11 in the manga and I watch the anime on Veoh (Which I think is way better than youtube)

And the series in finished in the manga, but the anime is supposed to have 37 episodes

Only three more episodes...
Kinda sad.

But every time I want to watch an anime, all of my friends want to watch it with me, and then I have to wait until they're here to watch the next episode.
