Title: Dynasty Vs. Samurai

I'd say Samurai Warriors, for one it's japanese history. . .which is 10 times cooler then Chinese history. Two, sure there's less characters, but at least these have variety, different weapons for all of them, and no same generic looks. Three, sure there's less lvls as well, but the lvl changes depending on what character, not like in Dyn. where it's different characters, but same lvl. Four, the stories are more interesting because they're more character interaction, more character conflict, instead of just armies fighting each other. (great examples of this. . .Mitsuhide betraying Nobunga, Oichi's decsion to fight her brother or not, Magoichi's constant pursuit of Nobunga, and many more)

Samurai Warrios just plain wipes the floor with Dynasty.

Blue_Impulse - September 10, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
There all the same to me but diferent names. :P

Samurai Warriors is the best.

A Pair of Glowing, Yellow Eyes - September 10, 2006 07:23 AM (GMT)
I totally disagree.

Were the two equals in all other ways but story, moves, characters, and the missions systems, I'd say Samurai all the way.

However, the production values on Samurai warriors hurt it. It doesn't look nearly as good, the camera angle's too high, and the number of characters does hurt it. Some of Samurai Warriors neseccary goals are unclear, and the AI sucks. (Attention Nobunaga: You're in a BURNING BUILDING. I'm trying to save your life here, you don't have to go kill every enemy soldier you see!)

But I have no doubt that Samurai Warriors 2 will change my mind about this. The series has potential.

XD Yeah, well, that lvl was pretty god damn annoying. but it's in his chaacter to kill everybody he sees! (Course it took me forever to beat that lvl with Ranmaru. . .) AND I CAN PROVE THIS TOO! (the character thing) If you play that one lvl where Gomen and Okuni just have to run away and get to the other end of the lvl. (I forgot it's name now, it wasn't a very memorable one) If you play that lvl as Okuni, Gomen doesn't attack anybody. He just keeps on running, because he's trying to protect her, and just wants to escape. but play as Gomen and she'll start to attack everyone who comes near her. What I'm saying is it's based on the characters attitude.

I couldn't really tell the difference look wise, it seemed fine to me. The camera angle was only annoying, to me anyway, if you got corned into a wall, then it would become a problem.

Sometimes the goals aren't clear and sometimes they are I'll agree with you on that.

I think the number of characters is fine because I'd rather play as 15 completely different characters, then ones that use the same weapon style but with a different character model. (There's what? 15 people in Dyn. who use swords, and 20 who use spears/halbreds/whatever. It's just repeated and generic. A lot of them are mostly the exact same person but they just look different. There's almost no way to distinct someone from someone else, weapon or personality. If the characters didn't look different, I'd have quit playing after beating it with about 8 people. which is about how many weapons are actually in the game.)

I like the variety that Samurai had in it's characters, you get to know them more. You get what I mean.

Anyway, I forget if this was Xtreme Legends or SW2, but they took out Kunoichi (Who wasn't a real person anyway, just supossedly represetned the Sanada 10, the 10 ninjas who followed Yukimura around) and Gomen Ishikawa (and there was no reason to take him out. . .no reason at all) and then they replaced them with Hideyoshi Hashibara (the built the castle in just one day guy), Ieysua Tokugawa (the big fat guy with the weird hammer spear thing), and then two other people who both supossedly take the place of Kunoichi.

I forgot if that was Xtreme legends of SW2 though. >.<

A Pair of Glowing, Yellow Eyes - September 10, 2006 04:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, if I remember correctly, the word Kunoichi refers to a female ninja, actually XD

I see what you're saying, and don't get me wrong, I LURVE Samurai Warriors. But it's got problems. I'm sure these will all be tweaked out for SW2, and it will quickly rise ahead of Dynasty Warriors.

NaotaInko - September 10, 2006 05:43 PM (GMT)
XD You're right on that. (another theroy people had about her was that Koei decided to just make 1 character as just plain eye-candy, instead of using a real person to represent the Sanada 10. Course the only proof behind Kunochi being eye-candy would be her english voice, her CG endding, and her alt. costumne. . .which isn't a lot at all. >.<. Course there was one female in the Sanada 10. . .ramble bug. >.<)

Yeah, it does have its problems, but it was practically perfect for me the first time, so SW2 is gonna be perfect!

Speaking of SW, why does everyone hate those castle lvls so much? I thought they were fun, and added some surprise element to the gameplay.

A Pair of Glowing, Yellow Eyes - September 11, 2006 06:37 AM (GMT)
Well, it gets annoying in the castle levels. They all look the same, there's no goals to accomplish besides "Kill this!," and progress through them is slow D:

Kunoichi is eye-candy. The only proof you need is her second costume, and the opening movie.

Though I must admit, kicking peoples ass while naked, and covering yourself at the same time adds a +6.3 to the "I'm a badass" scale.

NaotaInko - September 11, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
Well, there's variety, for example secert items are in many of the castle lvls, which require you to do certain things, or have a certain difficulity or defeat certain people at certain times. I know this is true for one of Noh's last lvls. Along the way you'll run into Kunoichi and . . .I think the 2nd was Magoichi. They aren't required to defeat, so just ignore them the first time you run into them. Eventually though you'll run into Kunoichi again, this time defeat her, and a precious item report should appear.

Eh, they weren't all the same for me, it depends on the difficulity you set the game too, and what castle it is. Some of the castles will look the exact same. .. because well, it's the exact same castle but with a different character. However, there'd be different events/precious itmes inside the castle, depending on who you're using. (I know this due to the Noh example provided above. There are other people with that castle, but due to their events they can't get that precious item. ) I know the difficulity changes the looks/latyout of the castles, because I tried that myself.

Yeah. you're right on Kunoichi. XD "I'm a badass" scale XD

I thought it was her CG closing movie? You're talking about the one where she, for no reason, loses all of her clothes and fights without them on?

I preferred Dynasty Warriors. I won't say anything about the story or the characters or the production. My only qualm is with the actual gameplay. Dynasty warriors was just...more fun.

NaotaInko - September 11, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
Dynasty was fun, but it just grew to be repepitive/annoying to play the exact same lvl over and over with no changes to it whatsoever.

A Pair of Glowing, Yellow Eyes - September 12, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the opening CG scene, where she's bathing, and you see the reflection of some chunky-ass ninja behind her drawing a sword, and she'd all like, "I don't think so bitch!" and it moves into sillouette mode, and whenever she cuts someone a big bloodstreak goes across the screen, the it turns back to normal and she's got this white cloth thing around her.

NaotaInko - September 12, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
I could of sworn that was the closing CG? Eh, I'd have to watch them both again.

A Pair of Glowing, Yellow Eyes - September 18, 2006 09:56 AM (GMT)
So... I've heard nothing but horrible things about Samurai Warriors 2 so far.

I guess they screwed it up. D:

Blue_Impulse - September 18, 2006 10:58 AM (GMT)
But you still may play it to see whats game like.

I'll play Samurai Warriors 2 to see whats the game like.

NaotaInko - September 21, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
SW2?! BAD! NUUUUUUU!

Did you do the same thingas like in DW4?

TFE - January 12, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
