This is just a series I picked up a while back. It's been a favorite of mine for a while now. For those who haven't already read it, I hope you like it!
Narue no Sekai
Intro:
Fourteen year old Kazuto Izuka is strolling along in the rain on his way home from school. When he comes across a small abandoned puppy discarded in an old cardboard box, he fanaticizes about some cute girl praising him as he lent the poor animal his umbrella. Snapping out of his daze, he quickly karate chops himself in the head assuring the reader it was not a shojo manga (which it so is).
A voice suddenly shouts behind him, "MOVE! It's a trap!" Kazuto turns to see the girl of his dreams. Narue Nanase. She advances on the puppy, bat in hand. She quickly emits massive blows to the small creature’s body. Kazuto wasn't sure what was more shocking. A cute girl that just happened to show up out of no where or a cute girl that showed up out of no where before beating a small anime senseless.
Narue holds up the bloody corpse (which was censored in the American version :good: ) and assures the now mentally disturbed boy that it was, in fact, a rather dangerous alien.
After quickly checking over Kazuto for any injuries, Narue takes her leave with what was left of the poor puppy... Erm. Alien.
"On a rainy evening in front of a rundown apartment building, I fell in love with a mysterious girl"
- Kazuto Izuka
Story:
Kazuto and Narue start going out and they are the typical young couple in love that you find in every shojo manga. Well, that is, if you forget about Narue's alien DNA. No matter, the two still face their enemies and countless mechs hand in hand. (Now everyone say, "Aww.")
Kazuto, of course, does really seem to mind dating a girl from outer space, although much of their time together can become very awkward. Once the two start accumulating new friends (including a sci-fi expert and space ship), things get REALLY weird. But, you know, without these strange aspects, it couldn't even be called manga, let alone interesting.
The story is simple. There isn't really a main plot as of yet.
Overall (my opinion):
I open the umbrella to it. Narue no Sekai is one of the cutest manga I've ever seen. Unfortunately I'm only on vol. 3 because I can't find vol. 4 anywhere. (English or Japanese :lalala:)
There's an anime along with the manga but I strongly suggest reading the manga before watching the anime. However, I must say, I'm very impressed with what was left in when they made the anime.
My only complaint is the story could have had a bit more plot towards the beginning. I understand some of people favor long-term manga but I'm, obviously not one of them.
I give it 3 out of 5 umbrellas.
