Title: Live action movies!
Description: Should they be done?

OK, I asked this question on another board and I'm wondering what feedback I'll get from here.
There's been a lot of talk about anime/manga based movies that are coming out in the near future. Should manga, anime, or video games be made into live action movies?
In my opinion, anime and manga should be left alone. Especially after G-Saviour and Battle Royale. Although, we did have some successful ones, such as Initial D and GTO. There's also a Death Note movie coming out along with rumors for a Nana movie sometime in the future. As for video games, it could probably work but it depends on the storyline. We were given Super Mario Brothers which wasn't harmful to the original game. However movies like Silent Hill was said to have been a disappointment. But, I still wouldn't mind seeing a Fatal Frame movie soon.
Oh well, anyway, discuss.

Hmm, a lot of times they are done horribly, I know for example Cromartie High School has a live action movie, but I have not seen it yet. If the live action movie does justice to the anime/manga/video game that it's about then I don't mind that much, but the problem is a lot of those are really really horrible.
I thought Battle Royale was originally a book, then adopted into a movie, then into a manga? I'm pretty sure that's the way it went, so there's no problem with that. Least I think so.
And I know Halo is getting a movie that's coming out in 07 I blieve, and Animal Crossing is even getting a movie. I don't know if these are live-action or not though.

Oh yeah, the movie came before the manga. Sorry, that was my mistake.

Pfft. The Nana movie already exists. It has for a while.
I thought the Last Quarter movie was just fine. A little cheesy, but fine. The Kamikaze Girls movie looks a little insane... But after reading the book (oh yeah, it was originally a book...) I understand why a little bit more.
I think making anime/manga into live action is a great idea. Of course you're going to have sucky interpretations and nothing is going to be exactly as you pictured it when reading. It's the same with books. It's not going to be perfect, but it's a great way to get other people into the whole scene. It's fun to see your favorite characters in the flesh.

I know that. x_X I mean there's rumors of another one.
As for the others, Kamikaze Girls was a great as a novel. I don't think it did very well as a movie or manga for that matter. :\ Also with the Last Quarter movie I found myself disappointed. But that's just me. :\

Well, I haven't actually read the Last Quarter manga. >> But I thought the movie was okay.
And yeah, the Kamikaze girls manga did lack...well, everything.
Is the first Nana movie any good? I haven't been able to get ahold of it, but the manga is my favorite. Ai Yazawa is the bomb.

Go Ai Yazawa!
The Nana movie was alright. Not the best but so so. If you really liked the manga you'll probably like it.
