Title: Kino's Journey

I've been wondering if anyone else here has seen this wonderful anime. And if you havn't I highly suggest it.
A "short" description of it:
You, the viewer, follow Kino, a young girl, and her motoraide as they drift from country to country, staying three days in each to soak up the culture and understand the ways of the people that live within them. Each country is vastly different with extremely different political, technological, and moral standards.
The series manages something rarely attainable in anime - interesting, mysterious, and intelligent storylines that make the viewer really think about the world around them, but without being overly complex and confusing. The makers of the series also do not force their viewpoints on the viewer; instead the makers present the information and leave the viewer to judge the standards of each country themselves.
This may sound boring, but believe me it is not. Even after the first episode, I was as eager as Kino to visit the next country and uncover their culture. The stories are genuinely moving, unpredictable, and sometimes heartbreaking. There is action as Kino sometimes finds herself in danger and some unexpected brutal images. The graphics are beautiful and modern. The soundtrack and dubbing are excellent.
I find it to be a very interesting anime, and highly reccomend it. The only downside I can think of is that it is only 13 episodes long.
Warning/Spolier: This is completly pointless to point out, and is most likely a spolier, but if you do not agree with Canabalism, then episode 2's ending may shock and disturb you.

To tell you the truth I was very hesitant about watching the anime at first because it didn't look very appealing. Honestly it does take some getting used to but once in, it's one of the best animes you'll see.
That was a very good summary might I add. Although, I have one objection which is mainly based on theory. One of the many mysteries of Kino's Journey is Kino's gender. Both English and Japanese voice actors are in fact girls however director's commentary on the website and the short story on the DVD insert indicate that Kino is male.

Hmm, yeah, she/he whatever is very androgynous. But there is one thing that I think stops that from being true. In episode 4 "Land of Adults", we see a young child who looks like Kino. (and obviously is Kino, because thety have the same hair/eyes/whatever, and escape with Hermes at the end) Anyway that child is wearing a dress, and also has a girl's like voice, unless the guy hadn't hit puberty and loved weatring dresses, I doubt it was a guy. Also the paretns I believe referred to her as daughter.
Unless he's gender confused, I don't think he's a guy. Course as I said before it's a very androgynous character.

Logical. Oh well, I guess it really doesn't matter in the end. It's still one of the greatest anime ever.

Yeah, it doesn't matter in the end, and that is so true.
