Title: guys with girl friends
Description: not gfs

Liminality - October 5, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
OK here's my 'theory', just something i randomly thought up:

a guy wont fall for a friend that's a girl if (and only if?):

a) she's ugly
B) she's a lot older than him (although not necessarily true for some people?)
c) he's gay
d) he's already got a gf
e) she's already got a bf.. although he can still fall for her so scrap this one
f) he's a pimp

so i mean if you're single and you got a friend who's a girl and she's single, and none of the above is true...

you know waht? as im typing this i think this whole thing is bs.. but i'll post it anyway coz someone might be able to get something out of it :P

crapshack - October 5, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)
Well, that's not true all the time.

But you forgot:
e) He or she had a crush on her/him but got over it.

Liminality - October 5, 2005 12:48 AM (GMT)
^oh yeah, or that.. but.. i dont get the whole crush thing.. like why would you get infatuated with them in the first place? and what made you stop..

Jarrid - October 5, 2005 01:13 AM (GMT)
Ha not true :D

Curently not true

Liminality - October 5, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)

Urameshi - October 5, 2005 01:32 AM (GMT)
I have had many girl friend that i didnt date.

Liminality - October 5, 2005 01:59 AM (GMT)
of course you dont DATE them.. but you might have a crush on them.. i dunno.

Urameshi - October 5, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
No really, i had some girl friend that i didnt have a crush on..

Liminality - October 5, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
yeah so im figuring out what exactly makes you like them and not like them..

Ryos4 - October 6, 2005 09:06 AM (GMT)
Well there is that whole thing about not wanting to ruin what they already have, thus never attempting to "hook up" with your friend.

And i guess the reason guys end up liking their friends, i feel is no differnt from liking someone your not friends with, atleast thats what i would assume. Or if you watched "Friends" before, it could like just happen.

mel-mel - October 6, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
Most of them are SO true in my case. But then I got over it after a few weeks. Buuut a pimp!? I wonder what that's suppose to mean...

I have no pimp friends! haha

And it's hard having a guy friend and all these girls fall for him and they ask you to ask him questions about the girl he likes becuase you just happen to be his closest girl friend. I hate it. Happens all the time. Just another day in life...

Liminality - October 7, 2005 12:05 AM (GMT)
^wow.. lol i can imagine that in a movie, and in the end the guy gets together with that girl :P but im not talking about you of course lol. :P

crapshack - October 7, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
I've had crushes on guy friends. They go away after awhile. It's probably because you know that person so well...all their ups and downs. They're like family sometimes. o_O

And all those movies about the best friends who fall in love with each other--very probable. But, it depends who it is with.

Sathe - October 7, 2005 01:50 AM (GMT)
I fell for one of my guy friends once... But I never let him know, and later I found out that he'd had a crush on me...and..well, that didn't work. I still almost like him, 'cept he grew his hair out and got real fugly, and I haven't talked to him in like...two years.

I think that a friendship can easily develop into a crush. That is, depending on the type of friendship. I can't imagine ever falling for BJ (current guy friend #1) but Evan was an easy crush, because of the way we got along.

It all depends.

And of course now I'm afraid I might be falling for a friend...yes, afraid. Bad situation there.

liger - October 7, 2005 05:27 AM (GMT)
in case you didn't know, statistically, relationships that start out as simple friendships last longer than any other relationships (i said statistically, don't flame me if it didn't happen with you).

'Cause he's just not fall-for-able. There's nothing about him that particularly attracts me...he isn't ugly, though. I just...don't like him that way. o.o Dunno. Never thought about that before.

But he does seem to be getting closer with this girl, my friend's friend who sits with us at lunch... My theory is that they'll hook up by the end of the year. ^_~

For me, I think, it's harder to have a crush on someone if you start out as just friends. I think it's harder to think of them that way. But, I don't know. People thought BJ and I were going out, and I laughed. Like, out loud.

Coconaught - October 7, 2005 10:44 PM (GMT)
...I fell for one of my friends...but she moved out of state this year...and I was getting really mixed signals, but I'm not sure because I don't have a sense for telling if girls like me I just always thought no one did so I don't really pay attention...but I'm going on my first "date" for homecoming with another friend.

Liminality - October 7, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
this is a really stupid question but whats homecoming?

crapshack - October 7, 2005 11:40 PM (GMT)
It's an American thing, obviously.

Most of the time, it's the last school football game (Homecoming game) and it's a dance [homecoming dance] sometime in the fall or spring--I can't remember.

Why did you ask this question, Ming? THe 'guy with girl friends'
Do you have a problem with your girl friends?

Liminality - October 7, 2005 11:43 PM (GMT)
nah.. i was just wondering, thats all :)

Sathe - October 8, 2005 01:05 AM (GMT)
Our homecoming game is tonight. Dance is tomorrow, I believe. I'm going to Fremont (my hometown) and might try to sneak into their dance with my friend. Wanna see some old friends that I haven't seen in about 4 years.

Today I was wondering what homecoming meant...like, where the name came from...

crapshack - October 8, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
Crap, yours is so soon. Maybe mine is too...I don't know anymore. I just know that our Spirit Day is day before Thanksgiving and our game is Thanksgiving, but that's all.

Well, Homecoming is a big American thing. It's like the prom sort of---find a date and get a good one before the dance. Something like that. I guess it means the end of the football season - most of the time it is. Just because America acknowledges football instead of basketball or soccer, etc.

Off topic:
MING! I love your avatar soo much!

Coconaught - October 8, 2005 03:13 AM (GMT)
my homecoming is next week. and I don't know what homecoming is either because my schools football team play like a month or 2 after homecoming...

Jarrid - October 8, 2005 05:30 AM (GMT)

Coconaught - October 8, 2005 05:26 PM (GMT)
she would be talking about the cloud one because she is obsessed with AC

My homecoming is going to cost $20 to get me and Leslie in plus I need money for conscessions and stuff...I'm just glad I have a job

Liminality - October 8, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
who's leslie? :D

Coconaught - October 8, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
my friend I'm taking to homecoming.

Liminality - October 9, 2005 01:59 AM (GMT)
ok cool :P

crapshack - October 9, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
Is America really the only place with Homecoming?

We've also got Semis, Junior and Senior prom.

liger - October 10, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
only $20? that is cheap compared to us. each ticket costs around $17 at the door. $15 with a Student ID bought before the dance. $13 if you got this weird discount Student ID thing (which i do).

our homecoming game is this friday. i'm playing in the pep band. i get 4 hours of community service per game. we need 60 by the end of high school. i got 44 hours and i'm only a junior.

the dance is this saturday but i'm not going (ALL MY FRIENDS ARE!!! :'( I WAS GONNA THROW AN ANTI-HOMECOMING PARTY AND THEN ALL MY FRIENDS FIND DATES!!!). i could go stag and steal all the ladies from the guys that don't deserve them (there are many, trust me). but then again, i'm no ladykiller because i actually know how to spell tetsusaiga (anime kills your love life).

Coconaught - October 10, 2005 04:50 AM (GMT)
liger...I feel for you I to can spell tetsusaiga...but I found a girl just last year that likes anime too so we have some stuff in common...but my best girl friend moved over the summer so now leslie is the only girl I talk to irl...

liger - October 11, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
i have lots of girl friends but they all either have bfs or i'm not interested in them. i guess i'm really just too picky. maybe i should just move up to the mountains and be a hermit for the rest of my life.

LMAO

Maybe you should. You'll probably find a hermit lady there who lives off near the other side of the mountains and marry her and start your own soccer team.

But I'm the same with you. It's either my dude friends have girlfriends or they're just not really what I want :P

But I do have a friend who liked me growing up. And I don't know if he got over that.

Jarrid - October 11, 2005 11:33 AM (GMT)
Life was so much more easier when girls had Cooites im telling you!

liger - October 12, 2005 03:22 AM (GMT)
i had girl friends all the way back in preschool (when i was 4). got more in kindergarden and more in grade 1. kept em all til grade 7, made new girl friends, still talk to them today.

for me, girls never had cooties.

Sathe - October 12, 2005 11:35 AM (GMT)
I had a boyfriend when I was in Kindergarten. :) His name was Cole, and that's all that I remember.

The first year I moved here I was 'harassed' and got an admirer out of it. He still tries to talk to me...except one time he decided to do some 'harassing' of his own.

But since I moved here, I've never much gotten along with guys, except one or two as friends. In my hometown, though, I was pals with the hottest guy in school... That is, in elementary school. :/ We grew mold farms together.
