It was dark. So dark in fact that the only spector of light you could see was the street lamp which seemed so distant when it was actually just across the road. The only thing you could depict was the gummed tarmac freshly laid that day.

The train station was silent. Last train had been and gone three hours before. I don't know why I was there; maybe it was because I needed to get away from the wild and turbulent events of my life. I needed time to think, to breathe, to be alone.

I climbed my way up the platform stairs. The only sound I could hear was the monotonous droning of my feet pounding against each step. I couldn't see a foot in front of my face because it was so dark so even I didn’t know when the steps would end until I put both feet together at the top. I felt so exhausted and drained, I had to sit down.

I sat on the step looking down into the black abyss that lay before me. Cold and frigid, I sat there shivering and listening to the blood in my body pulse through my veins; I started to rock back and fourth, just thinking and nothing more.

I closed my eyes, I felt so tired and weary. I was drifting of into a deep slumber when suddenly the sound of train carriages rushed underneath me made my heart skip a beat. I arose, tired and confused.

It was light. The sun almost blinded me as I looked up at the blue sky. It was morning; I had stayed at the train station all night. Cars were speeding past the train station and people were hurrying on and off the different platforms.

I checked my cell phone. Seven AM. It was true, I had been there all night and it only seemed like a few minutes. Even though there were so many people there, I was still alone. I sat down again and clenched the bars of the hand rails. I let go and fell into myself. Aching from the pain of sitting on a step all night I thought no one would come to my rescue until I got a tap an my shoulder. I looked around; a man with long dark hair was looking straight at me with a cup in his hand.
"Coffee?" he asked.
