alex - January 10, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)

Jezze - January 10, 2005 03:59 PM (GMT)
Life is pointless and world would be better without it <_<

Crypt - January 11, 2005 12:25 AM (GMT)
Life is pointless.

Sathe - January 11, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
Here's what I think of life. It's not important, we're just little insignificant specks on a big blob of unimportance. All of our attempts to understand everything are meaningless. I think life is an trivial stage in the big scheme of things. But don't get me wrong, I don't think there's anything more important, either. Nothing matters. Not a thing.

Life is inconsequential, so we can't really f*** anything up too badly. But we live our lives and get our greatest pleasure out of small things, like beauty, and possession, and fantasies. So the only thing I think we can really mess up for the rest of the world is nature, because only nature is truly ceaseless. But that's just me. I'm a tree-hugger. I'm sure there are other things that are more important to other people.

I personally get my smiles from music, games, nature, and books. I live mostly in a fantasy world, where things aren't polluted and crap. We might as well live our lives, and enjoy our petty beauties. But we might just as easily cease all existence. It's really irrelevant.

There is no meaning to it, there is no purpose. We're just here. We might as well enjoy ourselves.

But this is all probably nonsense as a result of me listening to 'Pieces' by Sum 41 nonstop for 3 hours.

mel-mel - January 11, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
I don't know what life is. I need it defined for me.

But here's what I know from my life. I'm pretty much a really happy girl. I mean almost the most little things in life make me smile. I try to make the most of it cause I know I don't have time. I want to spend time with my family and my friends. They keep me happy and content. Maybe I'm being a little bit consumptuous about this whole life thing, but that's why I think how it is for me.

But for now, life has a meaning for me. I'm happy and I'm not happy but I'll live it to the fullest even if it's pointless.

dualist - January 11, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
I'd say life itself is awesome, but some things happen that are not so "awesome". I fit wasn't for life, I wouldn't be posting here right now. So I guess I'm grateful somehow. And I'll move this to personals.

MOVED

Cyril - January 11, 2005 09:49 AM (GMT)
I think Life is really what you, and the people around you, make of it.
I just live life the way i want and day by day.
Life can be very enjoyable, but sometimes it's full of c**p.

Naruto-Uzamaki - January 11, 2005 11:27 PM (GMT)
Life is life. You cant do anything about it. Might as well enjoy it..

Zephyr - January 12, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Life, as we see it, is a lie. Life has, inherently, no meaning. It is merely the existence of the living thing, and its only goal is to ensure its own continuation, and the continuation of the next generation, to perpetuate its own existence unto eternity, in essence. Morals and ethics, love and hate, hope and despair, all of these are lies given within the unique combination of life and thought humans have to grant it some greater meaning, or to detract from it.

However, I've built my life on the lies that create realities. The lie that I can endure against myself, the lie that there is a better future awaiting, the lie that I can make a difference, the lie that forms the foundation of my deepest self and the selves I present to the worlds I am a part of, yet remain detached from.

My thoughts may seem nihilistic, but this is not a perfect representation of it. Just because human lives are built on lies does not mean these lives, or the lies, are worthless. The human life only has that meaning that you ascribe to it, no more or less. That my life has no meaning is a consequence of my imperfect lies and a dark, nihilistic truth beneath (Perhaps...I half believe this to be a lie itself concealing something else, but have been half afraid to delve any deeper, lest I lose myself again). That another person's life has meaning to them may mean that they have successfully lied to themselves, all their life, and that they are, in the end, better suited to the true meaning of all life I said above, an infinite loop of existence.

"Over time, the deceit becomes the reality. And what's wrong with that?"

crapshack - January 13, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)
This is the philosophical question that has many answers. It's like that question: What came first, the chicken or the egg?
It depends on the people. Religious people believe in what their religion says. Like in Christianity, we believe that life is to be resurrected on Judgement Day and live in Paradise with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, or something like that. Buddhists and Hindus believe that life will be fulfilled once Karma is achieved, even if it takes many lifetimes. Again, something like that.
But life is in the palm of your hands. You decide what life is. Is it food? Your goals?
But, I don't know. It's just life

Naruto-Uzamaki - January 13, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Hm, i think life is meaningless but what can you do about it. It may suck, but what the hell. We all gotta deal with it. I say you just try to enjoy life and live it to it's fullest. We cant stop life so, go out and enjoy it while you can. <_<

Just wait till we get the technology from Star Ocean. Then we'll know.

Sathe - August 21, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
Life is a burden.

Now that that's out of the way:

Life is more than just exsisting and surviving. Life is living. It's feeling love, pain, joy, anger, loss, all of it. It's always being here. Life is more than just eating and sleeping, it's everything that happens to us, ever, and the way that affects us. Life is people interacting with other people.

Life movement. Life is change. Life is pain. Life is joy. Life is everything.

Now that that's over with:

Life (n.) - the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body

Fyni - September 7, 2005 11:48 PM (GMT)
There isnt a anser :) and there probly never will be also i dont think it has anything to do with gods or anything. This always brings up the question that i cant get out of my head which is "What if there was nothing?" but what if there was no such thing as space or anything?? it doesnt make any sence?? nothing does maybe we wernt ment to understand

and the chicken came before the egg

:good:

Hopper - September 21, 2005 08:00 AM (GMT)
Have you realised that life sorta revolves around sex?

Life is pointless we live for 90 years than we die.....

NaotaInko - May 2, 2006 04:00 PM (GMT)
Life has meaning, wheater you like it or not, if you think it's pointless, there is it's meaning to you, a worthless thing, if you think it's a fun ride where you can screw up as much as you want, there is it's meaning. We all interrupt things different ways, either from experiences or how we were thought to view, or how we choose to view it, that is why no one can agree on one thing. The only day that will happen is when we all are the exact same, and I pray that that day will never come. It's fun to question things, no matter how pointless it is, I find myself questioning God countless times. I'm a Luthern, but I don't believe in him, so I guess you could say I'm an Atheist who actually goes to church...on ocassions. I don't see how he could be real, bjust as how people think life is pointless. I love life, it's a run ride, with twists and turns, we all tell our own story to make a whole, life is a wonderful mysterious thing, and we can all learn from it's myteries.

Sathe - May 2, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
Life is a fragile uncertainty. Any significance that we assign to our existence was created only by of the balance of our grasping imaginations. Our minds and beliefs have evolved just like our physical forms. We started out caring about nothing more than our next meal and whether or not it was going to rain. Then we became more accustomed to doing those things and we began to divide labor and reproduce, creating more laborers. And so we had much more time for free thought. We continued in this way, passing on each individual thought, idea, or theory to the next generation so that they already had that idea and didn't need to waste time thinking of it. People built upon the things they learned from their elders, and passed on what they discovered or imagined. Eventually it became too much to pass on orally, and someone started recording it.

Look at us today. Most of us base our entire lives on things that have been taught to us by our parents or by teachers or by books--books that were originally just ideas that were built on and written down.

And it's all in our heads.

Just an idea.

Thome - May 2, 2006 09:21 PM (GMT)
I kinda agree...but in reality I disagree to the highest extent.
Life is a sub-system of our environment that makes everything work. We are nothing more then complex monera no matter how advanced we get.
Life has meaning, just in the same way that the ocean current patterns, wind convection patterns, and solar radiation do. We are meaning by even exsisting, yet have no meaning past what we exsist for. To say that we are anything is wrong, but to say that we can't be anything isn't right.

I perosnally hate this question and have promptly answered: "fu** life"

Sathe - May 2, 2006 10:17 PM (GMT)
If you learn to deal with the fact that it's all in our minds, and if you accept that and acknowledge it, then you can just live above the surface and stay standing on the fragile web our minds have weaved over the centuries. When you're up there, you can philosophize all you want, and it's totally legitimate.

It's hard to explain what's going on in my brain, so I'll just assume you bridged the gaps yourself.

Thome - May 2, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
hmmmmmmmm.....
I have the same delima oftenly.

but that isn't important. What is important is the spiral of turths that line our exsistance without ever defining it, so here we are trying to define it with eight choices.
>.>

But anyway, our lives are a web that is illusioned. True. But who is illusioning it? Each indivdual or a community as a whole, or mabe the web is constructed through each member transversly relating it's self momentarily inside a community.
But we still haven't answered the inital question, so how can I make asumtions about the exsistance of communities and about a thought process for a people who have no right to a definition that is uniformly applicable? The turth is I can't. So therefor implying that we do these things everyday, living in a community and being an exsistace on a whole. but are we just lying to our selves everyday, or is the turth that is applicable able to be presented only in a complicated pattern of thought this is essentally incoherent to a normal thought basis.
So if we can only think when applying thought to our own little world, and have no definition that is describable to our selves, then what are we? A simple function that's been carried out and improved upon since the eairly days of the earth, that's what.

And that's why once again i'm forced to reiderate: "fu** life"
Becaues it isn't something, and it's not nothing. So all we can do is hope for some intellectual aliens to tell us what the hell we are, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Or do I?
(dun dun dun)
